Guidelines Of Certification
Procedure for Certification of Documents
All documents must be notarized by a notary public. For legal documents, it should also be authenticated by a county clerk prior to certification.
All documents must first be certified by the American Egyptian Cooperation Foundation (AECF) prior to its submission for legalization at the Consulates General of Egypt. Please refer to the geographical jurisdiction of AECF offices before sending your documents.
The original document must be submitted to AECF for certification. The certification fee is $40.00 per document, payable to: American Egyptian Cooperation Foundation by a certified check or money order only. Three copies of the original documents must also be submitted for filing purposes (1 copy for AECF, 2 copies for the Consulate).
The certificate of origin must be accompanied by the commercial invoice. Invoice number must be stated in the certificate of origin.
For alimentary articles exported to Egypt, all necessary certificates must be presented (e.g. health certificate, halal certificate, sanitation certificate, etc.)
For tallow exported to Egypt for soap and other detergent products, a certificate stating that "the tallow is free from radiation, D.D.B. and/or L.A.B." must be presented.
For documents sent by mail or courier, please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope or a filled-out courier airway bill (with your account number on it for billing) and a courier envelope.
Certification of documents are processed by AECF the same day.
